A curator is a manager or overseer. Traditionally, a curator or keeper of a cultural heritage institution is a content specialist charged with an institution's collections and involved with the interpretation of heritage material including historical artifacts.
An art curator is in charge of managing collections of works of art for a museum, foundation or an art gallery. An art curator’s main duties consist of acquiring, collecting, and cataloging works of art, as well as ensuring their overall care. He/she is also involved in research, as he/she writes articles, may prepare and give lectures.

The Italian critic and curator Germano Celant has died at the age of 79. The man who in recent years held the roles of Fondazione Prada director, Guggenheim curator, and ArtForum contributing editor fell ill with Covid-19 after a trip to New York in early March, and died from virus-related complications in Milan on 29 April 2020.
