Rajendra College (Autonomous), Balangir, a premier centre of education of Odisha, was one of the first new Colleges not only to be affiliated to Sambalpur University set up in 1944 but a significant Constituent College that the incipient University required for its own recognition as the first University of the State. The College is situated at a distance of four kilometers from the Balangir Railway Station towards Patnagarh and Harishankar and is adjacent to the State highway no 43. At present, the College commands a huge campus with separate buildings for the faculties of Arts, Science and Commerce. As Balangir is officially recognised as a Backward District of the State of Odisha, it needs to tone up its resources in general and human resources in particular.
