Food Engineering is the field where the science and engineering principles are used to process the food, preservation of food and storing of food in order to improve its quality, taste, smell, texture to add value to the product.
Food Engineers/Scientists use chemistry, microbiology, engineering and other sciences to study the principles underlying the processing and deterioration of foods, analyze food content to determine levels of vitamins, fat, ffood sugar and protein. They discover new sources and research new ways to make processed food more safe, palatable and healthful and apply food science knowledge to determine best ways to process,package, preserve and distribute food.
