Sundarban Mahavidyalaya was established on 4th August 1965, it was a landmark event for many thousands of students and parents of the Sundarbans and beyond, as the absence of a college in this vast area meant that the dreams of higher education and improved economic conditions were a remote possibility for most children studying in the numerous schools dotting the Sundarban area.
