The University was notified by the Legislature of the State of Punjab vide Act No. 11 of 2019 .It received official recognition from the UGC on 9th September 2019 vide F.No.9-11/2019(CPP-1/PU) and became functional on 16 September 2019 from the premises of Professor Gursewak Singh Government College of Physical Education, Patiala which is a constituent college of the University.
