Ideal Girls' College, Akampat is the only government girls' college in the Imphal East District of Manipur, established on 6th December 1970. The college is affiliated to Manipur University, Canchipur and recognized by the University Grants Commission under Section 2f & 12b of the UGC Act 1956. Ideal Girls' College occupies a total land area of 7.5 acre at Akampat, SingjameiKongba Road, with a distance of 5 kilometres from the state capital, Imphal, which can accommodate the necessary infrastructure of curricular and extracurricular activities of girl students and exposed their talents and skill activities.
