Haribhai V. Desai College was established in 1984, by The Poona Gujarati Kelvani Mandal. It started as an organization to cater to the Gujrati minority and traditional business sections of society. The college is located in the traditional business area of Pune city with a high density around it. This promoted the girl students from houses around to take education. Originally, the College was housed in RCM School and Junior College and s affiliated with Pune University the College shifted into its new premises in the year 1987 and was a single faculty college until 1993.
