Govt. Mizoram Law College was established in 1983 with a humble beginning, having the name of Aizawl Law College with the initiatives of some prominent citizens, academic and politicians. The College at first was affiliated to the North Eastern Hills University (NEHU), Shillong, Meghalaya. Then, with the establishment of Mizoram University in 2001, the College become affiliated to the Mizoram University. At the same time, the College is also affiliated to the Bar Council of India.
