The Balurghat Law College was established in the year of 2001. The college was affiliated to the University of North Bengal till 2007. In the year of 2008, the University of Gour Bongo come into existence by the virtue of the Gour Bongo University Act 2007 and automatically Balurghat Law College came under the purview of the University of Gour Bongo as per the jurisdiction of the University Act, 2007.
