Courses available for Commerce Students in Delhi University.

 

Let’s talk about Courses a commerce student can opt for in Delhi University. What commerce students think is that they have just a few courses open to them like economics honors, english honors, few management courses, but there are about 26 courses that are available for students who studied commerce for two years.

We all know that admission now to Delhi University is through CUET. And there are 3 sections in CUET. Section A is language specific test, Section B is domain subject test and has two parts, in B1 there are ALL CORE SUBJECTS like accounts, computer sciences, maths, economics, and business studies, and in B2 there are ADDITIONAL SUBJECTS like physical education, and entrepreneurship. And Section C is a GENERAL TEST.


Now the confusion arises here, what do we need to take when we need to appear in a particular course? Some courses require maths whereas some require English as a mandatory subject. Which combination of subjects is best for which course? Let's see the combination of courses available and their eligibility as well.

Let’s start with commerce courses, first is of course- B.Com, CUET gives you two options to enter in this course- any one language in section 1, two subject from B1 and one from B2 or B1, and option two is Any one language in section 1, any one subject from the B1 or B2 and write the general test.

If you want to go for b.com (h), you have to take maths as the compulsory subject, one language in section 1 and one subject from B1, and other one from either B1 or B2. And if you are not a maths student you can still opt for b.com (h) via accounts as a compulsory subject, that is one language, accountancy, one subject from B1, and other one from either B1 or B2.

Let’s take a look on management courses, like BMS, this is offered by one of the prestigious college, the Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, one of the top colleges in India, maths is compulsory along with one language and general studies, the same criteria is required for BBA-FYI, and BBE as well.


There are certain courses available from the arts and humanities stream as well like BA through two roots- any one language in section 1, two subject from B1 and one from B2 or B1, and option two is Any one language in section 1, any one subject from the B1 or B2 and write the general test.

BA (h) English requires English as compulsory language in section 1, two subjects from B1 and one from B2 or B1. You can also consider BA (H) economics which requires maths as the compulsory subject that is one language, mathematics, one subject from B1, and other one from either B1 or B2.

Other courses are BA (H) history, psychology, applied psychology, social work, sociology, humanities & social science, philosophy, and political science, all of them follow the same criteria that is any one language in section 1, two subjects from B1 and one from B2 or B1.



If you are a creative person and like to be on television, then you can think about BA Journalism, there are two ways to enter, first is English as mandatory language, 2 subjects from B1, and one subject from B1 or B2, and the second option is English as one language, 1 subject from B1 or B2, and general test.

For the 5 year integrated program in journalism, either take English as language and write General Test, or take Hindi as language and write the General Test. And if you’re a female, you have option for BA in multi-media and mass-com with any one language, and multimedia/ or mass-com as a mandatory subject and write General Test.


There are a few courses from science, mathematics, and Technology stream as well, you can opt for B.Sc. (h) Maths, statistics, computer science, and b.sc (prog) mathematical science, if you had maths in your 12th, with one language, mathematics as compulsory subject, one subject from B1, and other one from either B1 or B2.

To pursue B.tech in IT & Mathematical Innovation you need language test, maths as a compulsory subject, and write the General Test. And if you are a PCB or PCM female student, you have an advantage you can do b.sc (pass) home science, and there are two options to do this course- any one language in section 1, two subject from B1 and one from B2 or B1, or Any one language, any one subject from the B1 or B2 and the general test.
