NEET UG
NEET UG, The National Eligibility cum
Entrance Test (Undergraduate) or NEET (UG) exam is conducted by National
Testing Agency (NTA). NEET UG Exam is
for students who wish to pursue undergraduate medical (MBBS), dental (BDS) and
AYUSH (BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, etc.) courses in government and private institutions
in India and also, for those intending to pursue primary medical qualification
abroad.
NEET-UG replaced the All India Pre
Medical Test (AIPMT) and many other pre-medical exams conducted by states and
various medical colleges.
SYLLABUS :-
NEET (UG) syllabus consists of the core concepts of Physics, Chemistry and Biology taught in classes 11 and 12 as prescribed by the NCERT.
EXAM PATTERN AND STRUCTURE :-
There are a total of 180 questions
asked in the exam, 45 questions each from Physics, Chemistry, Botany and
Zoology. Each correct response fetches 4 marks and each incorrect response gets
-1 negative marking. The exam duration is 3 hours 20 minutes (200 minutes). The
exam is of 720 marks (maximum marks). In 2021, there was an abrupt change in
pattern of question paper. The paper consisted of two sections: A and B in all
four subjects, i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. Section A consisted
of 35 compulsory questions and Section B consisted of 15 questions out of which
10 questions were supposed to be filled.
COMING TO THE ELIGIBILITY :-
Must have passed 10+2 or equivalent
with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Biotechnology and English as core subjects
from a recognised board. Class 12 or equivalent appearing aspirants are also
eligible to apply for NEET. Minimum
Marks in 12th: 12th percentage required for NEET 2022 varies as per the
category of candidates. Applicants must secure at least 50% marks for general
category, 40% marks (SC/ST/OBC), 45% marks for general physical handicap and
40% marks (SC/ST/OBC-PH) as aggregate scores in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
RESERVATION :- Indian nationals belonging to certain categories are admitted under the seats reserved for them in accordance with the rules prescribed by the Government of India. The categories and the extent of reservation are as follows
- General category belonging to Economically Weaker Section (GEN- EWS) – 10% of seats in every course. The benefit of reservation will be given only to those General category candidates who satisfy the conditions given in the OM No. 20013/01/2018- BC-II dated 17 January 2019, issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The criteria for GEN-EWS will be as per the prevailing norms and/or notifications of the Government of India

Other Backward Classes belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer (OBC- NCL) –
27% of seats in every
course.
- OBCs
should be listed in the current updated central list of OBCs
- OBCs
present in the state list but not covered in the central list of OBCs (as per
the list in http://www.ncbc.nic.in) are NOT eligible to claim the reservation.
- The
criteria for OBC-NCL will be as per the notification of the Government of
India.
- Candidates
belonging to the creamy layer of OBC are NOT entitled to reservation. Such
candidates are treated as belonging to the general (GEN), i.e. unreserved
category, and they will be eligible only for the OPEN seats – the seats for
which all candidates are eligible

Scheduled Caste (SC) – 15% of seats in every course.

Scheduled Tribe (ST) – 7.5% of seats in every course.

Persons with Disability (PwD) – 5% seats in each of OPEN, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, and ST category
seats.
Candidates with at least 40% impairment irrespective
of the type of disability i.e., loco motor, visual or SEVERE dyslexic shall be
eligible for the benefits of the PwD category.
Leprosy-cured candidates who are otherwise fit to pursue the
courses are also included in this category.
